MRQ Jacobs Well operates from Moreton Bay to the Gold Coast Broadwater, the north arm of the Coomera River, and the Logan and Albert rivers - as well as Jumpinpin Bar, and offshore waters east of North and South Stradbroke Islands.
The team have been operating in the area for more than 40 years and were first established in 1979 as Beenleigh Air Sea Rescue, with just a few volunteers who used their own boats and launched from behind the old Beenleigh Rum Distillery.
Today we’re a crucial part of the local boating community and have a permanent base of operations in Jacobs Well near the public boat ramp. We’re manned 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
We work closely with other emergency services in the region, including the Qld Water Police on SAR operations, Qld Fire and Rescue, and Qld Ambulance Service.
MRQ Jacobs Well operates in conjunction with local MRQ, VMR and AVCGA units to provide support to the boating community in the south-east corner. If you require support when travelling in the region outside our area, contact QF7 Redland Bay, MRQ Victoria Point, QF 1 Southport, or VMR Southport.
Remember to always follow the marine safety rules and continue to Log On and Log Off via your local unit or VHF radio.
